Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Upstream Manufacturing Scientist to join our team in Piscataway, NJ. This is a crucial role responsible for executing mammalian cell culture processes, with a focus on producing recombinant proteins for biosimilars in a cGMP environment. You will work with a collaborative team on engineering and clinical-scale batches from 50 L to 1000 L volumes.
Responsibilities:
- Execute mammalian cell culture and bioreactor operations at multiple scales, specifically working with CHO (Chinese Hamster Ovary) cells.
- Perform on-line adjustments to products, instruments, or equipment by collecting and evaluating operating data.
- Review executed manufacturing and packaging batch records, protocols, and other technical documents.
- Initiate and coordinate investigations for issues and deviations found during batch execution.
- Take the lead in following GMP and EHS policies and provide strong technical expertise in cell biology and bioreactor operations.
- Work both independently with minimal supervision and as a collaborative team member.
Qualifications:
- A minimum of 1+ years of relevant experience in the biopharmaceutical industry.
- Expertise in independently designing, executing, analyzing, and documenting process development.
- Previous experience in a cGMP and aseptic manufacturing environment is required.
- Experience with single-use manufacturing consumables (e.g., bags, tube sets, process manifolds).
- Knowledgeable in GMP batch manufacturing, documentation, and cleaning verification/validation.
- Experience with bioreactors (Sartorius, Thermo, Abec, Excelleris) is a plus.
Salary & Schedule:
- Pay: $75,000 - $110,000+ (depending on experience level)
- Shift: 2nd shift (2:00 PM - 10:00 PM, Monday - Friday) with occasional weekend rotation and off hour work.
