JOB DESCRIPTION – Respiratory Therapist

Facility: SLMC – Respiratory Therapy Services

Location: Milwaukee, WI

• Level III Trauma Center
• Level III NICU
• Magnet Designated Hospital
• Comprehensive Stroke Center
• 933 beds
• COVID vaccine required

General Information

• Experience Required: Minimum 1 year
• First-Time Travelers: Considered upon review
• Patient Types: Primarily geriatrics and adults; some pediatrics in the ED
• Patient Ratio: 1:1

Required Certifications

• BLS
• ACLS
• CRT or RRT

Required Skills

• Vent management
• CPAP, BiPAP, Nebulizer treatments
• A-line placement
• Intubation
• Vent weaning and extubation
• ABG collection and interpretation
• Experience with the following vents:
• AVEA
• Servo U
• LPU 1200
• Parapack vents (MRI)
• Hamilton vents (transport)

Charting & Equipment

• Charting System: EPIC
• Medication System: Pyxis
• Unit Equipment: AVEA, Servo U, LPU 1200, Parapack MRI vents, Hamilton transport vents

Floating

• Floats to all units within the hospital

Orientation

• At least one shift to learn unit flow

Scheduling

• Weekend Rotation: Every other weekend
• Time Off: Up to 7 days
• On-Call: Varies
• Holiday Requirements: Varies depending on unit needs
• Fatigue Policy: Max 60 hours per week or 5 consecutive 12-hour shifts (applies to travelers as well)

Additional Notes

• Scrub Color: Any solid color; no camo or denim
