About the Role

We are seeking a Medical Billing & Payment Posting Specialist who is highly organized, detail-oriented, and experienced in healthcare billing and payment posting. The ideal candidate will initially focus on resolving a payment posting backlog before transitioning into broader billing and claims responsibilities.

Responsibilities

  • Daily Billing: Accurately process daily billing for fertility treatments, procedures, medications, and consultations using CPT/HCPCS, ICD-10 codes, and modifiers.
  • Payment Posting: Post insurance payments to patient accounts, ensuring correct application to claims and documentation.
  • Account Review: Conduct regular reviews of patient accounts to ensure billing accuracy and identify discrepancies.
  • Discrepancy Resolution: Investigate and resolve inconsistencies in patient accounts or insurance payments.
  • Patient Support: Professionally address billing inquiries, explain charges and payment options, and provide itemized receipts upon request.
  • Insurance Verification: Assist in verifying insurance benefits and coverage prior to patient services.
  • Compliance: Ensure adherence to HIPAA and federal/state regulations, coding guidelines, and clinic policies.
  • Collaboration: Work cross-functionally with administrative and clinical teams to maintain accurate and current billing information.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent (Associate’s degree in Business, Healthcare Administration, or related field preferred).
  • 2–3 years of medical billing experience, ideally in a fertility clinic or specialized healthcare setting.
  • Demonstrated expertise in payment posting and claims submission.
  • Proficiency with EMR systems and billing software.
  • Strong understanding of CPT/HCPCS codes, ICD-10 codes, E&M codes, and billing modifiers.
  • Knowledge of insurance processes and HIPAA compliance.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience in hospital billing or fertility-specific billing.
  • Background working in specialty practices or outpatient care.
