Hello,
We are an after-school educational program currently accepting applications for:
- Part-time Math Assistant
- Part time Reading/Writing Assistant
- Interns - Math and/or Reading/Writing
Ideal for candidates with
- high-school diploma, some college education, students in local colleges, retired educators, Stay-at-Home Parents,
- with a strong academic record in math/English language.
- people who are seeking a second part-time job
Education:
- High school or equivalent (exception is if you are currently enrolled in high-school)
- Some college education or college degree is preferred
Qualifications
- Good instructional skills, and an ability to communicate.
- Ability to convey ideas and concepts in a simple and clear manner to children.
- Responsible, reliable, punctual, and able to follow directions.
- Strong math and reading skills (capable of math up to calculus would be preferred, but not mandatory).
- Demonstrate initiative, be flexible and patient, and have the ability to multi-task.
- A background check will be required.
- You will be required to complete a math exam to determine if you understand the appropriate level of math skills required. Expect algebra level questions. Failing this exam does not mean an instant denial, however it is not preferred. At the end of the day, we just want you to be as prepared as can be!
- *Assistants will go through an initial training program.
General Responsibilities
- Mentoring /guiding students with class work.
- Stacking/Preparing student material for class work and homework.
- Calling student's parents over the phone.
- Any other tasks may be required for the operation of the center like stacking worksheets, inventory, possibly data entry (with training) etc.
Work Hours (twice a week for approximately 6-8 hours):
- Must be available at 2 days. Tuesday & Thursday, We are willing to be flexible with your schedule during the school year (for example - you are available only 1 day(and are an exceptional candidate), if you are a high school student and class doesn't get out until a certain time during the week)
Schedule:
- Tuesday (3:00 PM-7:00 PM)
- Thursday (3:00 PM-7:00 PM)
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $15-17 per hour DOE (after training)
